Tawila, 4 Bedroom Villa, Brand new, directly on a lagoon

Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of places in El Gouna over the years, but this villa – honestly, it’s something else entirely. The moment you pull up to Tawila (and yes, parking is actually easy here, unlike some spots deeper in town), you realize this isn’t your typical Red Sea accommodation. It’s brand new, which you can tell immediately from the crisp lines and that fresh-paint smell that somehow feels welcoming rather than chemical-y.

What really gets you though is stepping out onto that back terrace and seeing the lagoon literally right there. I mean, we’re talking maybe ten steps from your bedroom to having your feet in the water. The lagoon itself is this gorgeous turquoise that shifts color depending on the time of day – early morning it’s almost mirror-like, then by afternoon when the wind picks up, it gets these little white caps that catch the light. You know what’s great? The water here is actually calm enough that you don’t have to worry about kids or nervous swimmers, but it’s still connected to the main lagoon system so it doesn’t feel stagnant.

The villa itself is definitely more spacious than you’d expect from the photos – four proper bedrooms means everyone gets their own space, which honestly makes or breaks a group trip. The kitchen is actually functional (you’d be surprised how many “luxury” places have gorgeous kitchens that are basically useless), and there’s this great covered outdoor area where we ended up eating most of our meals. The AC works properly too, which… well, if you’ve spent any time in Egypt during summer, you know that’s not always a given.

Here’s something the booking sites don’t tell you – the location right at El Gouna’s entrance is actually perfect. You’re close enough to zip into town for dinner at Moods or to grab supplies at the Tamr Henna market, but far enough out that you don’t get the noise from the marina or the late-night music from the hotels. The taxi drivers all know exactly where it is, which saves you the usual “no, not that lagoon, the other one” conversation. Plus, being on this side means you get these incredible sunset views across the water – the whole sky turns pink and orange, and it reflects perfectly in the lagoon.

I will say, if you’re someone who needs to be in the thick of the action every night, you might find it a bit quiet. But honestly, after a day of diving or kite surfing, there’s something pretty perfect about just floating in your own private lagoon with a cold Stella and watching the wind patterns change across the water. The villa has that relaxed, lived-in feel despite being new – maybe it’s the way the outdoor spaces flow into each other, or how the bedrooms all have these great views of either the lagoon or the desert beyond.

The 9.6 rating makes complete sense once you’re there. It’s not trying to be the flashiest place in El Gouna, but everything just works the way it should, and you genuinely feel like you’re staying at a friend’s beautiful house rather than checking into another hotel room.

  The place in amazing, the location is exactly on a lagoon and that was just amazing, reaching there was super easy, everything was ready when we arrived and instruction was clear..
