Hotel Description

You know what caught me off guard about Tawila T 31? The name makes it sound like some sort of industrial complex, but honestly, this little three-star gem sits right at El Gouna’s entrance and punches way above its weight class. I mean, an 8.2 rating doesn’t happen by accident – there’s something special going on here that the bigger resorts down the coast could learn from.

The location is actually brilliant if you think about it. Sure, you’re not smack in the middle of El Gouna’s fancy marina area, but being at the entrance means you’ve got easy access to everything without the inflated prices that come with those waterfront spots. I watched guests come and go, and most seemed to figure out pretty quickly that they could walk into the main El Gouna development in about fifteen minutes, or catch one of those little tuk-tuks that buzz around constantly. The staff – and this is where you really see the difference between a place that cares and one that doesn’t – they actually know the bus schedules to Hurghada proper and will write down times for you without being asked. Small thing, but it matters when you’re trying to get to the old souks or catch a day trip.

What really won me over was the atmosphere, though. It’s got this relaxed, almost residential feel that you don’t get at the massive all-inclusives. The pool area actually stays quiet enough to read a book (miracle in this part of Egypt), and the rooms – well, they’re not going to win any design awards, but they’re clean, the AC works properly, and the beds are surprisingly comfortable. I noticed they’ve clearly put money into maintenance recently; the bathroom fixtures looked new, and there wasn’t that slightly musty smell you sometimes get in older hotels near the Red Sea. The Wi-Fi is solid too, which honestly saved my work trip when the connection at the conference venue kept cutting out. You can hear some street noise if you’re a really light sleeper, but it’s mainly just the gentle hum of El Gouna waking up – not the party chaos you’d get closer to Hurghada’s hotel strip. For the price point, especially if you’re planning to spend most of your time exploring the desert, diving, or just want a decent base without the resort markup, Tawila T 31 gets it right in all the ways that actually matter.

  The villa was beautiful. The personal pool was nice. Location was good. Pretty clean. Towels/linens and hand soap and kitchen basics included.
  
  What could be improved: Host was not responsive. Iron not included. Refrigerator wasn't properly cooling. Internet was not working.

  We had to buy ice to keep our items cool since the fridge didn't work.
  
  A previous reviewer said the internet was high-speed but it didn't work for us.
  
  Also note that the furniture outside was broken/plastic and didn't have cushions like the photos.
  
  All of these issues could've easily made our stay better had the host (and host additional contact) been responsive or at least empathetic to the situation. We contacted them on many occasions both on whatsapp and booking.

  The location is great, 5mins from downtown. Heated pool and the lagoon view was beautiful. Hosts were super responsive and answered all my questions. Some of our friends didn't have towels and the host offered us some for free.
