Look, I’ve stayed at my fair share of Red Sea resorts, and honestly, The Breakers Diving and Surfing Lodge caught me off guard in the best way possible. You know how most places in Soma Bay try to be everything to everyone? Well, this one actually knows what it is – a laid-back spot for people who came to Egypt to get underwater or catch some waves, not to sit by a pool scrolling Instagram.

The location is pretty sweet, actually – about 48 kilometers down the Safaga Road from Hurghada, which means you’re far enough from the chaos of the main tourist strip but close enough that you can still grab a decent meal in town if you want. What I really appreciated was how they’ve positioned themselves right on this stretch of coastline where the wind conditions are just… well, they’re perfect for kitesurfing if that’s your thing. The dive shop guys here aren’t just going through the motions either – I mean, they genuinely seem to love what they do, and that makes a huge difference when you’re planning your morning dive sites. The house reef is decent enough for a quick snorkel before breakfast, though the real magic happens when you boat out to the deeper sites.

The rooms are comfortable without being fancy – think clean lines, solid air conditioning (thank god), and those little touches that show someone actually thought about what a tired diver needs. Like, there’s proper space to hang wet gear, and the shower pressure is strong enough to wash salt out of your hair. I stayed during shoulder season in October, and honestly, it was perfect timing – warm enough for multiple dives but not so scorching that you can’t enjoy being outside. The restaurant situation is better than expected too; they do this grilled fish that’s clearly caught locally, and the coffee is surprisingly good for a place that’s primarily focused on water sports. Parking was never an issue, check-in was smooth, and the staff has that relaxed Egyptian hospitality thing down pat – friendly without being overwhelming. The only minor gripe I’d have is that Wi-Fi can be spotty in some rooms, but honestly, if you’re here for the diving and surfing, that’s probably not a dealbreaker. With an 8.9 rating, they’re clearly doing something right, and after spending time there, I get why people keep coming back.

  Beautifully decorated big room, facilities were always clean, staff was friendly.
  I really liked that you get a metal bottle (no plastic) and can refill it with cold drinking water whenever you like.
  The food was outstanding.
  Nice sunbeds at the beach. The hotel is located right next to a dive school and has a beautiful house reef, where you can also go snorkelling.

  It's an amazing hotel! Very simple and the staff are very nice.
  
  The hotel is very cozy, with a spacious room overlooking the sea and you can watch the sunrise every morning from your balcony, or actually from your bed!
  
  This was my second visit to the hotel, and it was very hard to leave such a lovely place! I extended my stay 3 times. Having the diving center in the hotel makes it even a bonus and more of a reason to stay and dive more.
