Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of Red Sea resorts, but The Cascades at Soma Bay actually gets it right in ways that surprised me. First thing you notice pulling up – and this is after the 45-minute drive from Hurghada airport along that winding Safaga road – is how they’ve managed to make this massive place feel intimate. The lobby doesn’t assault you with marble and gold like so many Egyptian resorts do. Instead, there’s this understated elegance that honestly made me exhale a bit after the chaos of getting there.

What really sets this place apart is the thalassotherapy center. I mean, I’d heard about it but didn’t expect much – you know how spa treatments at resort hotels can be hit or miss. But they’re actually serious about this stuff here. The seawater treatments use water pumped directly from the Red Sea, and the therapists know what they’re doing. My masseuse had been working with thalasso techniques for years, not just someone who learned massage basics last month. The golf course is another thing entirely – 18 holes designed by Gary Player that actually challenge you while giving you these ridiculous views of the sea. Early morning rounds are best, before the wind picks up around 11 AM.

The dining situation is better than most all-inclusives, though honestly, that’s not saying much sometimes. Their main restaurant does a decent job with both international and Egyptian dishes, and the seafood is fresh – they get daily catches from local fishermen in Soma Bay village. Room-wise, I had a sea view suite and could hear the waves at night, which was perfect for sleeping but might bother light sleepers. The only real downside? The property is huge, so walking from the far villas to the beach or restaurants takes a good 10 minutes. They have golf carts, but you’ll wait during busy periods. Staff turnover seems low here, which you notice – the same bartender remembered my drink order by day three, and the concierge actually knew the area well enough to recommend a local dive shop in Safaga that wasn’t touristy nonsense. The private beach is genuinely beautiful, protected by the bay so it’s usually calm, and the house reef is decent for snorkeling though not spectacular. If you’re coming between March and May, book early – that’s when the weather’s perfect and Europeans descend en masse. Overall, it’s one of those places that delivers on being a proper 5-star resort without the pretention that usually comes with it.

  The location is fantastic, and the rooms are spacious, with a nice balcony offering a view of the sea. Both the breakfast and dinner were spectacular in terms of quality and quantity. The spa is an experience that should not be missed.

  A very seamless experience where all our needs were easily accommodated including food allergies. The first place in Egypt where my son who has Celiac disease had so many options available to him.
  The rooms are spacious, clean and very comfortable beds. The views from all directions were just awesome. The small gym is adequately equipped!
  I would definitely visit again.
  
  What could be improved: That we did not have enough time to enjoy all the amazing facilities for longer. There is enough to keep one occupied for days if not weeks.

  What could be improved: I booked a sea view room but being on the first floor wasn't high enough and ended up with golf view only.

  We had an absolutely unforgettable stay! From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was exceptional—special thanks to Mr. Shazly, the manager, who went above and beyond to make our experience perfect. We were pleasantly surprised with an upgrade to a beautiful suite, which made our stay even more comfortable and luxurious.
  
  The food was consistently excellent, with something for everyone, and our kids especially loved every meal. The golf course is something out of a dream—the views over the sea are simply unreal and made for an incredible experience. The beach was also a highlight: clean, peaceful, and perfect for relaxing.
  
  Additionally the spa is a must try as it has one of the very few aqua tonic pools in the world.
  
  Our whole family had a fantastic time, and we’re already planning our next visit. Highly recommended!
  
  What could be improved: It just gets very quiet early. So if you are with kids you might want to go to Soma marina for more night activities.
