What struck me right away was how quiet it gets here, especially compared to the chaos you’ll find in downtown Hurghada. El Gouna itself is this sort of modern resort town that doesn’t feel completely artificial – they actually planned the whole thing with canals and bridges, kind of like a desert Venice but way more chill. The golf course (which you can see from some of the rooms) stays green year-round, which honestly seems like magic when you’re surrounded by all that desert. The two bedrooms are genuinely spacious – I mean, you could actually unpack your entire suitcase and still have room to move around, which is rarer than it should be these days. The kitchen setup is practical too, not just for show, though you’ll probably end up eating out most nights because the restaurant scene in El Gouna is actually pretty decent.

Here’s what I really appreciated: the staff doesn’t hover, but they know their stuff when you need them. Check-in was smooth, parking is right there (no hunting around for spots), and the whole place has this laid-back vibe that makes you forget about whatever stress you brought with you. The resort shares facilities with the main Steigenberger, so you get access to their pools and beach area without paying those premium rates. Honestly, the beach situation alone makes this worth it – the Red Sea here is incredibly clear, and you’re looking at some of the best snorkeling spots just a short boat ride away. The rating of 9 isn’t just people being generous either; there’s something about the whole setup that just works. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place on the coast, but everything feels well-maintained and thoughtful. If you’re planning to visit, just know that El Gouna can get pretty busy during European winter months when everyone’s escaping the cold, but even then it never feels crowded the way Sharm el-Sheikh does. The evening call to prayer echoing across the water at sunset – that’s when you really get why they called it Sunset Heaven.
