You know what struck me first about Tony’s Privy Beds? The name is absolutely ridiculous – I mean, who calls their hotel “Privy Beds” – but honestly, once you’re there overlooking the Red Sea, you stop caring about the quirky branding. This place sits right on Royal Beach in El Ahiaa, which is actually one of the quieter stretches of Hurghada’s coastline, away from the chaos of the main resort strip but close enough that you can still grab a taxi into town for about 15 Egyptian pounds when you want proper nightlife.

The 4-star rating is spot-on – it’s not trying to be the Ritz, but everything works the way it should. The rooms are clean (actually clean, not just Egyptian-hotel-clean), the AC doesn’t sound like a dying camel, and the beds are surprisingly comfortable. What really gets me is the attention to small stuff that most places mess up – like having enough power outlets near the bed, decent water pressure in the shower, and WiFi that actually reaches the pool area. The staff genuinely seems to care too, which you can’t always count on in resort towns where everyone’s burned out from dealing with tourists. Check-in was smooth, they helped sort out my diving gear storage without me having to ask twice, and the front desk guy (Ahmed, I think?) actually knew the bus schedule to downtown Hurghada off the top of his head.

Here’s the thing about the location – Royal Beach isn’t where the party boats dock, so mornings are peaceful instead of chaotic. You can actually hear the waves instead of jet skis revving at 7 AM. The coral reef is walkable from the beach (wear water shoes, trust me), and it’s honestly some of the best snorkeling I’ve found without having to book an overpriced boat trip. The hotel’s beach area gets busy around 10 AM when families start claiming chairs, but if you’re an early riser, you’ll have that Red Sea view mostly to yourself with your coffee. The restaurant food is… well, it’s hotel food, but the breakfast spread is solid and they make a decent om ali for dessert. I ended up eating dinner out most nights – there’s a little local place about a 10-minute walk toward town that does amazing seafood if you’re not afraid to venture beyond the resort bubble. Parking is free and actually secure, which matters if you rent a car to explore the desert or hit up some of the other diving spots along the coast. With a 9.2 rating, Tony’s Privy Beds is clearly doing something right, and after staying there, I get it – it’s the kind of place that doesn’t oversell itself but delivers on the basics really well.

  the apartment was nice, clean and spacious, with the view of the sea and free access to the beach, it had a balcony and there were nearby stores and restaurants where we could buy everything we needed, communication with the owner was very good and helpful
  
  What could be improved: the only thing was a small problem with the toilet which had a slow inflow of water into the tank, so we had to wait for longer for water to fill, but otherwise it worked fine and we informed the owner of the problem, however we only spent two days there, so for us this was only a minor distraction and we believe the owner will take care of this, as the communication with them was excellent

  What could be improved: We had a wonderful experience staying here! The property is located slightly outside the main city, offering a tranquil atmosphere perfect for relaxation. The owner was exceptionally kind and helpful, always quick to respond to any queries. He even went the extra mile to provide us with bus timings from the station, which was very thoughtful.
  
  Although we ended up driving to Cairo (as the journey felt too hectic after a trip to Luxor), we truly appreciated the owner's support and prompt responses throughout our stay. He also made our anniversary special by arranging some lovely decorations, which we absolutely loved and admired his effort.
  
  For anyone looking for a serene beach stay, this is the place to be. The swimming pool was clean, well-maintained, and had a stunning blue hue reminiscent of the sea. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, adding to the overall positive experience.
  
  Highly recommended for a relaxing getaway with excellent amenities and exceptional service!

  We stayed at this property in December, during the low season, and it was truly a peaceful paradise. The accommodation is located within a quiet and well-maintained residence, making it the ideal place for anyone looking to relax away from the hustle and bustle. The presence of a pool, beach loungers included, and a convenient bar and restaurant service made the stay even more enjoyable.
  
  The location is excellent: while in a tranquil area, it’s easy to reach the center of Hurghada by taxi. Additionally, just a 20-minute walk away, there is a spot for kite surfing, where you can rent equipment or enjoy the sport—perfect for enthusiasts!
  
  The beach is ideal for families with young children, thanks to its shallow and safe waters, as well as for those who enjoy long walks in the sea (we recommend bringing water shoes).
  
  The room is well-equipped and offers all the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay, with well-organized spaces, even for those who prefer cooking at home. In summary, it’s a perfect choice for anyone seeking to combine relaxation, convenience, and a touch of adventure!

  I enjoyed that the property was quiet, new and had a great view of the Red Sea. The owner was immediate in his response to any questions I had. Internet was good.
  
  What could be improved: The property is a residence with a reception. There were few people in the apartments. There was a grocery store within a block and a half. They were restaurants a couple of blocks away. I was going on tours all day so it wasn’t a problem that there was not tourist type activities real close. It was about a 20 minute drive outside of the downtown. I didn’t realize it was so far away.
  I had stayed downtown for the first couple of nights, so I was ready for some quiet beauty.

  It has been a pleasure staying in such a nice apartment with a beautiful view . It is a small apartment that should be enough for a small family.
  The host is super and honest . she is always available when needed. She was very generous to offer us an early checkin and late checkout. I never had this in any of the places I visited in Hurghada.
  The resort is beautiful and quiet with everything you need around .The swimming pools are marvellous, the beach is very quiet , it is true we had to walk so far to reach a nice spot for swimming, but no problem of walking a bit :).
  We will definitely come back to this beautiful place.
