You know what struck me first about Turtles Beach Resort? It’s not trying to be something it’s not – and honestly, that’s refreshing in Hurghada where half the places seem to promise five-star luxury at three-star prices. This place sits right in the Al-Ahyaa area, which I actually prefer to the more touristy strips because you get a better feel for how locals live while still being close enough to everything that matters.

The sea view rooms (and trust me, spring for one of these) look out over the Red Sea in a way that makes you forget you’re staying in what’s essentially a well-run apartment complex. I mean, the address literally says “apartment E.3.1-2” – they’re not hiding what this is. But here’s the thing: the rooms are spacious, properly air-conditioned (crucial in Hurghada’s heat), and you’ve got that balcony where you can actually hear the waves if the wind’s right. The 7.2 rating makes sense when you realize this isn’t about marble lobbies or fancy restaurants – it’s about clean, comfortable rooms with views that cost three times as much at the resort hotels down the coast. Check-in was straightforward, no drama, and the staff actually knew the area well enough to give decent restaurant recommendations beyond the usual tourist traps.

What really works here is the location – you’re close enough to walk to some decent local spots for dinner (there’s this little seafood place about ten minutes away that the hotel staff told me about), but far enough from the main hotel strip that you’re not dealing with constant tour bus noise. The beach access is solid, though don’t expect pristine sand – this is Hurghada, not the Maldives. But the snorkeling right off the shore is actually pretty good, especially in the morning before the day-trip boats start churning up the water. Parking wasn’t an issue when I was there, which can’t be said for everywhere in this part of town. Look, it’s not going to win any design awards, and if you need a full-service resort experience with multiple pools and evening entertainment, this isn’t your place. But if you want a clean, comfortable base with genuine sea views, decent value for money, and a location that feels more authentic than the all-inclusive bubble – well, Turtles Beach Resort delivers exactly what it promises, nothing more, nothing less.

  I normally travel very rough, but this was too much for a Hurghada holiday so I left and changed property
