You know what caught me off guard about this place? The name says “apartment” but honestly, it feels more like stumbling into someone’s well-loved seaside retreat that they’ve decided to share with travelers. The vintage sea view apartment sits tucked into the Palma Resort complex in AL Ahyaa – and I mean really tucked in, on the third floor where you get these unexpectedly gorgeous glimpses of the Red Sea between the other buildings.

The 9.3 rating isn’t some fluke, either. I’ve stayed in plenty of three-star spots along this stretch of Hurghada’s coast, and most of them feel like they’re trying too hard to be something they’re not. This one actually embraces what it is – a bit weathered around the edges, sure, but with character that the newer cookie-cutter resorts just can’t replicate. The apartment itself has this lived-in comfort that makes you want to kick off your sandals and stay awhile. The sea view from the balcony hits different in the early morning when the fishing boats are heading out – you can actually hear the gentle lapping against the shore mixed with the distant call to prayer from the nearby mosque, which sounds touristy but becomes oddly soothing after a day or two.

What I really appreciated was how the owner clearly knows this area inside and out. They left these handwritten notes (in pretty decent English, thankfully) about which local spots serve the best koshary and when to avoid the main beach areas because of tour groups. The building itself is part of the Palma Resort setup, so you get access to some shared facilities without paying resort prices, which is honestly brilliant. Parking was easier than I expected – there’s decent space in the complex, though I’d suggest arriving before evening when everyone’s coming back from their day trips to Giftun Island. The check-in process was refreshingly straightforward, none of that resort bureaucracy where they try to sell you seventeen different packages.

I mean, it’s not going to win any design awards, and the Wi-Fi gets moody during peak hours, but there’s something genuine about this place that’s hard to find along Egypt’s increasingly developed coastline. The vintage touches – and I think they mean actually vintage, not just retro styling – give it personality that most accommodations in this price range completely lack. Plus, being in AL Ahyaa puts you close enough to Hurghada’s main action without being in the thick of the tourist chaos. You can walk to decent restaurants and dive shops, but you’re not dealing with constant noise from the strip.
