You know what? I’ve stayed at plenty of five-star places along the Red Sea coast, but Xanadu Makadi Bay actually lives up to its rating – and honestly, that 9.1 score makes total sense once you’re there. The moment you pull up (and yes, parking is a breeze), you get this immediate sense that someone really thought through every detail. I mean, most all-inclusives in the Hurghada area can feel a bit factory-like, but this place has this unexpectedly sophisticated vibe that doesn’t scream “resort chain.”

What really got me was how they’ve managed the space – Makadi Bay itself is this protected little inlet about 25 minutes south of Hurghada’s main strip, so you’re getting that crystal-clear water without the crowds from the city beaches. The resort sits right on this gorgeous stretch where the coral reef comes pretty close to shore, which is huge if you’re into snorkeling. I actually spent most mornings just floating around out there before the day-trippers from other hotels started showing up around 10 AM. The staff genuinely knows the area too – our concierge (I think his name was Ahmed?) gave us the inside scoop on when the reef fish are most active and which spots have the gentlest entry points.

Here’s the thing about the all-inclusive setup: it’s done right. The restaurants don’t feel like cafeterias, the bars aren’t watered down, and – this is key – they’ve got enough variety that you’re not eating the same rotation of buffet food for a week. The Italian place on-site is surprisingly legit (though honestly, stick to the seafood options since you’re right on the coast). What I really appreciated was how they handle the whole pool situation – there are quieter areas if you want to read and decompress, plus the livelier spots if you’re looking for that resort energy. The evening entertainment doesn’t get too crazy either, which is perfect if you’re trying to actually relax rather than party until 2 AM. Check-in was smooth, rooms are spacious with those little touches that matter (good water pressure, blackout curtains that actually work, AC that doesn’t sound like a jet engine), and the housekeeping staff is incredibly thorough without being intrusive. If you’re flying into Hurghada, it’s worth noting that the transfer is pretty straightforward – most people don’t realize how much easier this location is compared to some of the hotels further north where you’re dealing with more traffic and construction noise.

  Very big resort with lots of different swimming pools. Very nice equipped gym with AC. The staff is very friendly and attentive.
  
  What could be improved: While i was at the pool or down at the beach i got constantly approached by people trying to sell me tours or spa treatments. Sometimes they can be quite pushy and don’t really take no for an answer. That was a little annoying.

  The territory is big and nice, a lot of swimming pools, and a lot of space, the beach is great for people who like sand and sea. The food is perfect, although I had a stomach irritation, i don't know which reason – but it's common issue for Egypt. There are little shuttles which bring you to the beach, aquaparc or hotel. Nice fitness center 👍

  Amazing property with a high standard services from reception to the restaurants. We stayed with a family of four and were very pleased with the attentive people working there: guest relations are doing their best to make people happy, food in ala cart restaurants (especially Italian and Turkish) is really good, services at the beach and next to the pools are great. Our flight was delayed and we were offered late check-out for free as an extra bonus. We would definitely recommend this hotel to our friends and family and looking forward to come next year.   From check in to check out we were treated like royalty, we upgraded to a duplex lagoon suite and the accommodation as amazing. Every member of staff was polite and helpful. Our favourite restaurant was the Turkish and the food was 1st class. We would recommend this resort 100%

  Xanadu is the best resort that we could have chosen to have a restful and fun vacation. The food and drinks were exceptional. The service was great by the Xanadu team to make our stay comfortable. The resort is massive with lots of activities for kids and adults. It is situated on the Red sea which was perfect for snorkeling.
