You know what caught me off guard about Zebra Apartments? The name makes it sound like some quirky themed place, but it’s actually a pretty solid mid-range spot right in the heart of Hurghada’s main drag. I mean, Al-Madares Street can get a bit hectic during the day with all the local traffic and street vendors, but honestly – that’s part of the charm. You’re literally walking distance from everything that matters without paying those beachfront resort prices.

The apartments themselves are clean and functional, though I’ll be straight with you – this isn’t luxury territory. Think more like a really good Airbnb that someone’s actually put thought into. The kitchen setups are surprisingly decent (I made coffee every morning without wanting to throw anything), and the air conditioning works properly, which is honestly half the battle in Hurghada during summer months. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night despite being on a busy street – seems like they’ve got decent windows, or maybe I just got lucky with my room placement. The 7 out of 10 rating feels about right; it’s not going to blow your mind, but it delivers on what you need without any major disappointments.

Here’s the thing that makes this place work – the location is actually brilliant if you want to experience Hurghada like a semi-local rather than being stuck in a resort bubble. There’s a decent little restaurant two blocks down that serves proper Egyptian breakfast (nobody mentions this in the tourist guides), and you can walk to the old town area without needing taxis every five minutes. Plus, when you do want to hit the beach clubs or diving spots, you’re not starting from the middle of nowhere. The staff seems to know their stuff about getting around too – they pointed me toward a couple of local spots I never would have found otherwise. It’s not the fanciest place you’ll ever stay, but if you’re looking for a clean, central base that won’t eat your entire budget and actually puts you in the real Hurghada, this works really well.

  Ausser das es klimatisiert war, gab es nichts positives.
  
  What could be improved: Alles war sehr schmuddelig bis verdreckt, das Geschirr teilweise kaputt und dreckig. Auch in den Küchenschränken war es dreckig und verklebt, so wie auch der Herd, keine Ahnung wann dort das letzte Mal richtig sauber gemacht wurde. Es ging auch nur eine Herdplatte, auf telefonisches Nachfragen hieß es wir könnten ihn nur nicht bedienen. Das Bett hat bei jeder Bewegung gequietscht, so dass man beim umdrehen immer wieder aufgewacht ist. Ein Balkonstuhl defekt und sehr unbequem, dort konnte man sich nicht aufhalten. Alte Möbel sind nicht schlimm, aber wenn die Farbe abblättert oder die Schränke nicht mehr richtig schließen ist das nicht mehr ok. Und Ungeziefer ist auch nicht ok. Das ist wirklich Abzocke.
