You know what struck me first about Zen Resort Sahl Hasheesh? It actually lives up to that “zen” part of its name – and I mean that in the best way possible. When you’re driving through the Sahl Hasheesh development (which honestly feels a bit like a planned community dropped into the Egyptian desert), this place manages to feel genuinely peaceful rather than just trying to look fancy. The lobby’s got this soft, natural lighting that immediately makes you drop your shoulders after dealing with Hurghada’s somewhat chaotic airport transfer.

The location in Azzura is pretty smart, actually. You’re far enough from central Hurghada to escape the tourist madness, but close enough that grabbing a taxi to the old town or marina doesn’t require a expedition planning session. What I really appreciated was how the resort sits right on this pristine stretch of Red Sea coastline – the water here is noticeably clearer than what you’ll find closer to the city center, probably because there’s less boat traffic stirring things up. The snorkeling right off the beach is legitimately good; I spotted parrotfish and angelfish without even trying hard. The coral’s not pristine (let’s be honest, most of the Red Sea has seen better days), but it’s definitely alive and colorful enough to make you want to stay in the water longer than planned.

Staff-wise, they’ve got that Egyptian hospitality thing down without being overly pushy about it. Check-in was smooth – no weird hidden fees or surprise room “upgrades” that cost extra. The rooms themselves are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star: clean, comfortable beds, decent air conditioning that actually works (crucial in this climate), and bathrooms that don’t make you question your life choices. I mean, it’s not going to blow your mind with innovative design, but everything works and feels fresh. The pool area gets pretty lively during peak hours, but if you wander over in the early morning or late afternoon, you can actually find a quiet spot to read. Food’s better than I expected – the breakfast spread has genuine Egyptian options alongside the standard international stuff, and their fresh fruit game is strong. Dinner service can be a bit slow when they’re busy, but honestly, you’re on vacation by the Red Sea – what’s the rush? The 8-out-of-10 rating feels about right; it’s not perfect, but it delivers on what it promises without any major disappointments.

  What could be improved: The room cards are horrible, every time we go to the room we need to go down to reactivate the cards, 3 level up 3 level down and this is due to old access at the doors, rather to change the access card machines on the door or turn back to keys in order to avoid bothering clients

  The staff was great specially Mr Mohamed Fawzy in the reception and the manager Mr yasser and also Mr Mohamed Elsyed . The breakfast was great and variable and also the staff was super active. Taha responsible for room cleaning was so helpful and great.. the beach bar mr Ibrahim welcome us so good.but unfortunately the beach is rocky.. it's not good for kids

  The hotel was spotless and very well-maintained. I especially loved the amazing view – absolutely stunning! The staff was incredibly helpful and available even late at night, which made our stay super comfortable. A big plus was the free shuttle to a beautiful beach area with lots of cozy cafés and shops. Overall, a great experience – would definitely stay again!
  
  What could be improved: The distance to Hurghada city center was a bit far. However, the resort itself has so much to offer that we didn’t really miss going into the city.
